Ride Leader Seminar & Eugene area rides

Join me and the People Cycling Board at the Ride Leader Seminar (RLS) in Eugene OR on Friday, May 22, 2026.  The purpose of the RLS is to familiarize People Cycling Members with the process of leading tours with the People Cycling club.  It will cover the benefits of being a tour leader, as well as all the nuts and bolts of how to put a ride together.  Some of the topics will include:

  • How to create a budget for the tour, and how to manage the money;

  • How to use Ride with GPS to create and manage routes;

  • How to communicate with potential participants to make sure they are suitable for the tour;

  • How to negotiate prices and inclusions with Commercial Tour Companies for International tours;

  • How to support the participants if help is needed; and

  • How to choose an area that would be a great place for a tour (hint, your local riding areas are your best bet since you know the area).

The cost of this RLS is $0, and People Cycling is not assessing a Ride Fee.  People Cycling is going to cover the cost of the hotel for two nights, May 21st and 22nd.  There will be a companion tour immediately after the RLS on May 24 and 25, led by Marty Fink and Greg Corwin.  This tour will be two days of riding in the Eugene area alongside the Willamette River and area wineries. There will be six routes to choose from and you will be able to choose the one that fits you.

It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best.
